1. Betty Gore Was Axed 41 Times By Her Best Friend, Candy Montgomery
Trying to get away from Betty Gore during their argument, Candy Montgomery was going to exit the room. They fought over the axe Gore had used to threaten Montgomery at first. According to the latter’s evidence in court, even after she struck the victim in the head and caused significant blood, the victim did not allow her to flee.
Candy eventually became angry and aggressive and seized the axe from her friend’s fingers after Betty shushed her. Then, after striking her 41 times, 28 of those blows were directed at her head.

Candy Montgomery cleaned herself off with blood in the victim’s home before departing to go about her daily activities. On the witness stand at her trial, she said Betty’s infant was still upstairs, sobbing in the crib, when she took a shower at the Gore home before leaving.
She dressed in clean clothes at home and went to the church with her children and Gores’ oldest daughter for Bible school before going out to lunch with friends. Additionally, Montgomery threw away the remains of the shoes she wore when she killed Gore.
3) Betty Gore’s Next-door Neighbors Discovered The Bloody Crime Scene
Two of Gore’s neighbors, Lester Gayler and Richard Parker, found her dead and the gruesome crime scene at her home. The two allegedly walked over to the Gores’ house after getting calls from Betty Gore’s husband, Allan, who became worried about her whereabouts when she didn’t answer his calls.
Gayler claimed that the crime scene was the most horrifying thing he had ever seen. He recalled seeing blood everywhere and axe marks as high as the roof. According to Lester, who recalled seeing her the next day, Montgomery seemed unmoved by the events.
4) Revelations Of An Illicit Affair Led To Betty Gore’s Brutal Death
The Wylie, Texas, the neighborhood was in a frenzy following Gore’s murder. Candy Montgomery, who identified herself as Betty’s best friend, ruthlessly murdered Betty with 41 axe strokes. Montgomery was not first thought to be a suspect in the horrific murder investigation.
But once Betty’s husband informed the authorities about his illicit liaison behind the victim’s back, they quickly identified her as the main suspect. Both of them met at motels. However, their relationship ended when the Gores welcomed their second child. In front of a confused mob of citizens, Montgomery swiftly turned himself into the police.
5) Betty Gore’s Body Was Mutilated
In Betty’s home’s utility room, a lifeless body was found. Practically every square inch of the space was covered with her blood. Half of the victim’s face was obliterated, and her body had been horrifyingly mangled. An axe was reportedly found close to her body, according to sources.
