Mike Hart, an American football coach, and a former player, was born on April 9, 1986. He is presently the University of Michigan’s running backs coach. The Indianapolis Colts picked Mike Hart in the sixth round (202nd overall) of the 2008 NFL Draft. Hart, who was listed third on the Colts’ depth chart behind Joseph Addai and Dominic Rhodes, had little play in the 2008 campaign, rushing for nine yards on just two attempts. On December 2, Hart was elevated to the active roster.

Hart’s first touches of the 2009 campaign were on December 6. He gained 11 yards on the ground and another 27 yards on two receptions. On December 13, he gained 28 yards through the air. Hart scored the first touchdown of his NFL career on a one-yard run after receiving a handoff from Peyton Manning on January 3, 2010, in the first quarter against the Buffalo Bills. Hart carried the ball twice in Super Bowl XLIV on February 7, 2010.

Hart scored his second career touchdown in a 2010 game against the Kansas City Chiefs. The Colts won 19-9, the game’s lone score. In a Monday night game against the Houston Texans on November 1, 2010, Hart rushed for an NFL career-high 84 yards on 12 carries. On July 26, 2011, Hart was cut loose by the Colts.

As offensive quality control coach for the Eastern Michigan Eagles football team, Hart accepted a position at Eastern Michigan University in August 2011. He worked in that position for the 2011 season before coaching the team’s running backs for the following two seasons, 2012 and 2013. Hart was appointed the running backs coach at Western Michigan University on February 4, 2014.

He started working at Syracuse University as the running backs coach on January 4, 2016. On March 2, 2017, it was revealed that Hart was leaving Syracuse to take over the open running backs coach position at Indiana University under his former coach Mike DeBord.

Hart was appointed as the new running backs coach at the University of Michigan on January 13, 2021. Hart had a seizure on the sidelines at Memorial Stadium on October 8, 2022, during the opening period of Michigan’s game versus Indiana. He has carried off the field on a stretcher and sent to a hospital for examination.
