Authorities in Rancho Cordova, California, have announced that 61-year-old Holga Castillo Olivares has been charged with the disappearance of 15-year-old Michael Ramirez, who went missing in June 2020 and came home “inexplicably” in March 2019.
Authorities and the school’s website say that Olivares teaches second grade at Alice Birney Waldorf-Inspired K-8 School on 13th Street in South Land Park. While police have not confirmed whether or not Ramirez was a student at the school, media sources have indicated that Olivares is the mother of a kid who was acquainted with Ramirez.
According to SCUSD, the lawsuit stems from “acts unrelated to the employee’s assigned tasks.” A spokesperson for the district indicated that Olivares had been placed on administrative leave pending the results of an inquiry into the matter, but he would not elaborate.
According to the records kept by the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office, Olivares is being held on two separate charges: a felony count of detention of a kid with the intent to hide from a parent and a misdemeanor count of contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
She is currently being held without bail at Sacramento County Main Jail, and her arraignment is scheduled for Monday.
