The speed of Stevenson’s second serve ranged from 105 to 115 miles per hour. Co-founder and current Nike chairman Phil Knight traveled to London to ink Stevenson to a three-year deal. Stevenson’s spectacular run at Wimbledon resulted in her being voted Rookie of the Year by Tennis Magazine and Most Fascinating by People Magazine.
Several domestic and foreign outlets profiled her after her interview with Barbara Walters for a Barbara Walters Special. While Stevenson was touring the famous campus for the first time, Nike proudly displayed a dozen flags bearing her name in large letters. From 1999 to 2002, Stevenson lived at IMG Academy, where he trained under Nick Bollettieri.
