According to her death certificate, Betty White passed away following a stroke on December 25, 2021, six days before she passed away at age 99 on December 31, according to the Associated Press.

Her cause of death is listed as cerebrovascular accident, the medical term for a stroke, on the LA County death certificate. The Los Angeles Police Department tweeted that the preliminary results of their investigation indicated a “natural cause of death, and there is no sign of foul play” when the news of her death initially surfaced.

She passed away naturally, according to Jeff Witjas, her longtime agent, who verified this to ABC News. “She passed away in her bed while she slept. That’s all there is to it, “Witjas said to ABC News.
