Barbara Thore Still Alive: ‘My Big Fat Fabulous Life’ Star Was 76

Barbara Thore Still Alive: Barbara “Babs” Thore, the devoted matriarch on the TLC show “My Big Fat Fabulous Life,” passed away on Wednesday, according to her daughter Whitney. She was 76.

Whitney revealed in a touching Instagram post that her mother had experienced several strokes, the most recent of which occurred on November 13. Babs reportedly had cerebral amyloid angiopathy, a condition marked by a build-up of protein deposits in the brain’s blood vessels, which Whitney claims caused Babs’ strokes in 2017, 2021, and once more last month.

“We are devastated by the loss of Barbara Thore,” TLC told The Post in a statement. “She was a beloved member of the TLC family whose kind and generous spirit will never be forgotten and forever cherished. Our hearts and deepest condolences go out to Glenn, Whitney, Hunter, her entire family, and friends during this difficult time. Babs will be greatly missed by all of those that knew her.”

Babs, born on June 22nd, 1946, and her husband Glenn have two children together: Whitney and Hunter. The family is featured in the movie “My Big Fat Fabulous Life,” which follows Whitney as she searches for love and fulfillment after gaining a lot of weight.

Whitney described her mother’s “Southern charm, her hilarious sense of humor, her well-timed witty remarks, her beauty and her ability to make everyone around her feel comfortable and cared for” in the statement, she made upon learning of her passing.

“What you can’t possibly understand is the extent of my mother’s love — what you may have witnessed and felt through a TV screen is a minute fraction that, even if multiplied by a million, wouldn’t come close to ‘real life,’” Whitney wrote.
