Sofia Richie Engaged: Although Sofia Richie and music executive Elliot Grainge were longtime friends before dating, the announcement of their engagement shocked fans.
It turns out that Grainge’s father, Sir Lucian Grainge, frequently collaborated with and was friends with Richie’s father, the great vocalist Lionel Richie. Grainge and Richie have kept their romance very discreet, but in April 2021, Richie made their relationship Instagram public with a picture of the two of them sharing a kiss.
The model made her engagement to Grainge public one year later, on April 20, 2022, and her father officially approved.
“I love Elliot,” the “Hello” singer told Access Hollywood on April 26, shortly after his daughter’s announcement. “I’ve known him since he was 12 … It was one of those things where I don’t have to go back and check out the kid. I know who it is.”
Later, the siblings Nicole and Miles Richie, brother-in-law Joel Madden and Benji Madden attended a party to celebrate the couple’s engagement.
In 2022, a source close to the pair said that “they make each other incredibly happy.” “He is diligent and very mature. She moved in with him a time back, and he has his own home. Her true love has everyone in her circle in raptures. They are a perfect fit for one another.”
He Has Music Business Roots
Due to his father, chairman and CEO of Universal Music Group, Lucian Grainge, Grainge has grown up surrounded by music.
Grainge’s father has collaborated with incredible musicians throughout his long career, including Elton John, The Rolling Stones, Amy Winehouse, Rihanna, and Katy Perry.
Among his many honors, Lucian received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and was named Billboard’s first-ever Executive of the Decade. Additionally, Queen Elizabeth knighted him in 2016.
He Grew Up In The U.k.
Although Grainge now calls Los Angeles home, he was raised across the pond, where he discovered his father’s passion for the music industry.
In a 2019 profile with Variety, he admitted, “I was a crazy kid who liked to read the music trades. “How open, sincere, and sensible my father was during negotiations was something I observed. Negotiation becomes less competitive and more collaborative when you lay all your cards on the table.”
Later, he went to Northeastern University in Boston and earned a bachelor’s degree there.
He Has His Record Label
According to Forbes, Grainge founded the 10K Projects record label by signing rappers Trippie Redd and Tekashi 6ix9ine after moving to Los Angeles after college graduation.
With eight platinum/multi-platinum singles and 18 gold singles under the label’s belt, Grainge will be included in Forbes’ list of the 30 under 30 in 2020.
He loves Eminem
Grainge enjoys eclectic music, but Eminem is particularly close to his heart.
“I was obsessed, thought he was the coolest thing in the world,” he told Variety in 2019. “If you look at the streaming data and analytics over the past six years, you’ll see anyone under 28 around the world has been raised on hip-hop. It’s a lifestyle, a culture, as a rock once was for another generation. And I believe it was Eminem who took it to the next step regarding global reach.”
He’s A Private Person
Grainge doesn’t use social media as much as Richie does. He doesn’t have any tweets on his Twitter account and only has four Instagram posts, three of which are about Richie.
Even so, Richie shares several pictures of her fiance, including one of a tender kiss they shared as she was celebrating her 24th birthday. In the photo, Richie holds Grainge’s arm while standing in front of her birthday candles.
He Was Friends With Richie Before They Started Dating
Early in 2021, Grainge and Richie began dating after growing up together.

Shortly after the couple started dating, a source spoke to Entertainment Tonight and said, “They have been friends for years, and Elliot is also close with Sofia’s brother, Miles.” It’s beautiful for Sofia to date someone her family enjoys and approves of.
He And Richie Bought A House Together Just Months After They Began Dating
In April 2021, after making their relationship public, Grainge and Richie spent $17 million on a Beverly Hills home. The residence is close to the L.A. homes of Paul McCartney and Rihanna.
The couple realized a profit when they sold the home for $22 million less than a year later.
He Was “A Nervous Wreck” When Asking Lionel Richie For His Blessing For Their Engagement
Soon after Grainge proposed, Richie’s father stated in an interview with Access Hollywood that Grainge was “a nervous wreck” when he requested permission to marry his youngest daughter.
He remarked, “I thought he was going to faint, but he survived it.
Lionel added, “I was going to rib him a little bit, but I didn’t want to play. He was going to faint. It was wonderful … they’re deeply in love, so all I can say is, that’s what you want as a dad.”
