The Massachusetts State Police have cancelled the Amber Alert for Cortana Goncalves, 4, who they claim was abducted in Springfield by her biological mother, who is not her legal guardian.
According to State Police, Brandee Arnold, 32, abducted the small girl during a family gathering on Thursday at about 9:30 a.m. Around midday, Goncalves was discovered unharmed at a trailer park on Fifth Avenue in Cheshire.
Arnold had previously made homicidal and suicidal statements, and the police reported that they had “urgent concern for the safety and well-being of the child.”
Arnold will be hauled to Springfield to face charges for the alleged kidnapping after being taken into police custody.
