Prince William has taken on a few public appearances since Kate Middleton went back to Windsor to recuperate from stomach surgery, all the while prioritizing his family. But today, the Prince was uninvited to cancel his scheduled attendance at a Thanksgiving Service; the Palace gave the excuse that he had a personal issue.
This morning, Prince William was supposed to attend a service at St. George’s Chapel, Windsor, with Queen Camilla and other royals to honor the memory of King Constantine of the Hellenes, William’s godfather, who passed away in January.
However, William’s absence from the service was announced to reporters by Kensington Palace just before it started, citing a personal issue. It is believed that the Prince personally informed King Constantine’s family over the phone.
A Palace aide said that Kate “continues to be doing well,” acknowledging the worry for her and the possibility that this is related to her recuperation. Since her operation on January 16 at the London Clinic, the Princess has not been sighted in public.
Her final public appearance occurred on Christmas Day of last year when the royal family left Sandringham House to walk to church. It is evident from Kensington Palace’s statements that they will not be providing frequent updates on her recuperation.
The day following her surgery, they declared that she wouldn’t probably be going back to her public duties until after Easter. With the Palace stating, “She hopes that the public will understand her desire to maintain as much normalcy for her children as possible; and her wish that her personal medical information remains private,” Kate has made the decision to keep her health a secret.
The announcement coincided with King Charles’s forced withdrawal from public appearances as he underwent treatment for an unidentified form of cancer. Queen Camilla has kept up her hectic schedule.
Prince William has fulfilled certain obligations, such as investitures, but he has adjusted his schedule to accommodate his small family. His final public appearance took place on Sunday night at the BAFTAs.
