American technology media The Verge reported on Tuesday that the social media giant Facebook plans to rebrand with a new name next week, citing a source with direct knowledge of the matter.
The Verge reported that Facebook CEO Zuckerberg plans to discuss the name change at the company’s annual Connect conference on October 28, but it may be announced sooner.
The report added that rebranding may position Facebook’s social media application as one of many products owned by a parent company, which will also oversee Instagram, WhatsApp and Oculus.
Facebook said it would not comment on rumors or speculation.
