Big Scarr Funeral: Big Scarr, a rapper from Memphis, passed away at 22. Gucci Mane, another musician, verified his death.
The artist, whose real name was Alexander Woods, was a member of Gucci Mane’s 1017 Records, and on Thursday night, the first death reports started to surface.
The Shade Room first shared the sad news of his passing on Instagram, posting a photo of the singer along with the message, “Our prayers are with his loved ones at this time.”
Following that, Gucci Mane appeared to confirm the rumors in a touching post of his own. He posted three pictures of the budding celebrity, two of which showed him onstage, and he captioned them, “This hurt. You are missed, @bigscarr.
The neighborhood police have not yet issued an official statement regarding the news of his passing.
As word spread, though, more admirers and performers turned to social media to express their condolences.
DJ Akademiks, a 31-year-old Jamaican-American podcaster and YouTuber, posted a memorial on Twitter with the simple message “RIP Big Scarr.”
Enchanting, a fellow member of the 1017 label, shared on her Instagram Stories what appeared to be confirmation, writing: “‘Ion want to discuss. I apologize if I don’t reply. I simply can’t. She included a broken heart emoji with the words while posting them.
She followed by posting a picture of the celebrity and saying, “My baby, my best friend, my son, I love you forever, and I’m so sorry.
“Love you so so much. Know I would do anything for you.”
The two were then shown hugging in a video that she later posted, with the caption “I’ll do anything to hug you one more time” and an emoji for a broken heart.
2019 saw the debut of Big Scarr’s rap career with the release of the song Make A Play. It rapidly became popular on YouTube, leading to him being signed to Gucci Mane’s 1017 label the following year.
His most well-known piece of work is the mixtape Big Grim Reaper. Before a deluxe edition was launched this year, it was released in 2021.
His passing occurs soon after the expiration of two more Memphis rappers. While Snootie Wild was shot and killed in Houston in February of this year, Young Dolph was assassinated in Tennessee last year.
