Richard Wayne Van Dyke is a multi-talented American who came into this world on December 13, 1925. He has been active in the film, TV, and theater industries for more than 70 years. A Golden Globe, Tony, Grammy, Daytime Emmy, and four Primetime Emmy are among Van Dyke’s many accolades.
The Television Hall of Fame honored him in 1995, and the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2012 both recognized his achievements. A Disney Legend, he received the Screen Actors Guild Life Achievement Award in 2013, and in 2021 he was honored at the Kennedy Center.

Dick Van Dyke wed Margerie Willett, his first wife, on air during the radio broadcast “Bride and Groom” in February 1948. Their union resulted in four offspring. In 1984, Van Dyke and Willett finalized their divorce after a protracted separation.
After that, Van Dyke lived with Michelle Triola Marvin, his lifelong partner, until her death in 2009. For over three decades, they had been a couple. Despite being 46 years his junior, Van Dyke wed makeup artist Arlene Silver in 2012.
In 1972, Van Dyke sought treatment for his alcoholism, and since then, he has been very forthright about his battle with the disease. He smoked heavily for the majority of his adult life as well, but he spoke forward about quitting in 2013 and using Nicorette gum to rein in his cravings.
