First Lady Jill Biden Has 2 Lesions Removed: The little lesion on the left side of first lady Jill Biden’s chest and the one above her right eye had all of the malignant tissue removed by surgeons.
President Biden’s doctor, Dr. Kevin O’Connor, stated in a memo that a second lesion on her left eyelid was being investigated.
According to the letter, tests revealed that the tumors over her right eye and on her chest were basal cell carcinomas.
“Fully removed, including margins, and sent for standard microscopic analysis,” was how the lesion on her left eyelid was described.
O’Connor said he would constantly monitor the region over her right eye after the outpatient treatment, also known as Mohs surgery, at Water Reed National Military Medical Center in Maryland. Still, he does not expect the need for any future surgeries.
“Basal cell carcinoma lesions do not tend to ‘spread’ or metastasize, as some more serious skin cancers such as melanoma or squamous cell carcinoma are known to do,” he wrote. “They do, however, have the potential to increase in size, resulting in a more significant issue and increased challenges for surgical removal.”
The most prevalent and treatable form of skin cancer is basal cell carcinoma. When detected early, the slow-growing cancer is thought to be highly durable and seldom develops significant consequences or poses a threat to life.
Despite some facial swelling and bruises, 71-year-old Biden is in excellent spirits and good health.
Later in the day, she was supposed to return to the White House.
“The First Lady returned to the White House earlier this evening following her outpatient Mohs surgery. She’s doing well and in good spirits,” the first lady’s press secretary Vanessa Valdivia tweeted.
In that earlier letter, O’Connor said doctors advised removing it out of “an excess of caution.” Keep yourself updated with all the latest news from our website Newswatchlist.com and get all the recent updates.
