Chloe attempts to research Trigoxin but discovers no Internet connection. She phones a stranger from her mother’s phone-equipped bedroom to look for the medication. The man claims it’s a cardiac medication with images of a small red pill.

Chloe requests that her mother accompany her to the movies. She dashes across the street to the pharmacy, claiming to use the restroom. Chloe tricks the drugstore into telling her it’s Ridocaine, a dog-only sedative. The chemist informs Chloe that the medicine can potentially numb a human’s legs. Diane cuts off Chloe’s hyperventilation. She sedates and brings her daughter home.

Diane locks and chains Chloe’s door while she is away. Chloe climbs onto the roof and smashes her mother’s glass with a soldering iron and water. During an asthma episode, she barely crawls to her room to retrieve her medication. Diane has unplugged the power cord from her motorized wheelchair ramp. Chloe collapses after throwing her wheelchair down the stairs, sustaining minor injuries and moving one toe.

Chloe awakens, intubated and immobile. Diane begs Chloe to be released, but the doctors refuse until she is evaluated by a mental health professional. Chloe approaches a nurse and requests crayons and paper. The nurse responds to a code blue while Chloe is writing “MOM.”

Diane infiltrates the facility and ties Chloe to a wheelchair to go; the nurse discovers the bed is vacant and alerts security. Diane panics and grabs a handgun, but Chloe moves her foot and keeps the chair in place, preventing her from being moved.
