Karla Homolka: Canadian serial killer Karla Leanne Homolka (born May 4, 1970) also goes by the names Karla Leanne Teale, Leanne Teale, and Leanne Bordelais. She was an accessory to the rape and murder of at least three young women in Ontario between 1990 and 1992, including her sister, Tammy Homolka.
Homolka was convicted of manslaughter instead of first-degree murder and served only twelve years in prison for the torture, rape, and murder of two teenage girls, Leslie Mahaffy and Kristen French. This case garnered international attention when Homolka struck a controversial plea bargain with Ontario prosecutors.
Homolka’s testimony helped secure Bernardo’s life sentence and dangerous offender label for his role in the deaths of Mahaffy and French. Homolka told police that domestic violence had forced her to be a reluctant partner in the deaths of Bernardo, leading to a plea bargain in which she received a reduced sentence in exchange for pleading guilty to manslaughter.
Comparing Homolka to Bernardo, who scored 35/40 on the Psychopathy Checklist, we see that Homolka only managed a 5. [8] Later, before Bernardo’s trial, videotapes of the atrocities appeared, indicating that Homolka had a more active role than she had claimed, including in the rape and death of her sister, Tammy Homolka.
Therefore, the Canadian press began calling the agreement she had reached with prosecutors the “Deal with the Devil.” The public’s fury over the plea deal did not subside even after Homolka’s highly publicized release from prison in 2005.
Homolka moved to Quebec after being released from prison, where she eventually married the brother of her attorney. As of 2014, she was back in Quebec after spending some time there in the Antilles and Guadeloupe. Let’s move and read more about Karla Homolka. Who Is Karla Homolka? Where Is Karla Homolka Now?
