On Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, Olivia Benson (Mariska Hargitay) and Elliot Stabler (Christopher Meloni) are almost kissing while sitting in a tree.
Yes, Stabler has made the first move after 24 seasons of slow-burning chemistry, and fans are in shock.
A fascinating aspect of the Law & Order: SVU episode from January 26 was when Stabler paid a visit to Benson at her apartment. Benson has been busy pursuing a mob boss with roots in the Bronx, and because of the ensuing confusion, she and Stabler have grown apart. But as soon as Stabler noticed Benson’s wounds, he was compelled to express his worry.
“Why didn’t you call me?” Stabler asked.
“Because I knew that you would try to protect me,” Benson confessed.
“Is there something wrong with that? I care for you,” Stabler challenged. “Liv, look at me.”
And she turned to stare at Stabler, which caused the tension to explode. Before Benson abruptly drew away, the ex-couples inched closer and closer and almost kissed. Benson informed Stabler that she wasn’t “ready for this.”

Meloni discussed the incident in a TODAY interview. “It was an interesting scene, a delicate scene, a difficult scene. Awkward, but that’s all good,” he said. “Because I think those were all elements that were part of the scene.”
