The suspect fired fire on K9 Koda and the deputies while still running away on foot. Before putting the person into custody, two officers exchanged gunfire with the subject, wounding him.

It was then discovered that the suspect was sought on outstanding warrants for firing a gun from a moving car, aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, and attempted first-degree murder.

The comment inspired Deputy Revels to leap to his feet and engage in combat with one of the individuals. The other deputy helped him. One of the other subjects shot both deputies multiple times as they wrestled with the man. Deputy Revels received fatal injuries, while the other deputy was seriously hurt.

Finally, all three suspects were found. They were given a life sentence after being found guilty on several counts linked to the murder and robbery.
