10 Things I Hate About You Cast: Too good to be true! On March 31, 1999, the adored romantic comedy 10 Things I Hate About You debuted, and more than two decades later, people are still raving about it.
Star-crossed lovers Kat Stratford and Patrick Verona were portrayed by Heath Ledger and Julia Stiles, respectively. Amidst the stress of high school, the couple reluctantly fell in love. The star-studded supporting cast included Joseph Gordon-Levitt (Cameron James), Gabrielle Union (Chastity), Allison Janney (Ms. Perky), David Krumholtz (Michael Eckman), Larisa Oleynik (Bianca Stratford), Andrew Keegan (Joey Donner), and Susan May Pratt (Mandella).
The Save, the Last Dance actress told Us in February 2019: “I have so many wonderful memories from that movie, but they are fading because it has been 20 years.” “But it was such a particular time, and we were all so excited. We were all youthful and open to the experience and one another since it was exhilarating, and none of us was tired. Said, the summer was a tonne of fun.
“It was my first major work,” Stiles added, “and I enjoyed that part because I hadn’t seen the portrayal of a teenage girl so feisty before, and that just felt incredibly refreshing, and I was glad to be a part of it.”
Many of the film’s stars have gone on to succeed in Hollywood in the years since its success. Ledger, however, passed away in January 2008 at 28 after accidentally overdosing on drugs. In the movies, The Dark Knight (2008), Brokeback Mountain (2005), and A Knight’s Tale (2001), the actor was the star before he passed away. In addition, he was awarded a posthumous Oscar for his portrayal of the Joker.
In a November 2016 appearance on Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen, Union referred to her late costar as “God, the first time I saw him, he had done a movie in Australia, and nobody had heard of him — he was just this mysterious 19-year-old.” “He instructed me and everyone over 21 to meet him at the top of the hotel at this bar, and when we walked in, he just had this crazy hair,” the woman said. Again, he is 19 years old, but he drinks alcohol from his father.
The Being Mary Jane star said, “He was such a man, such a gentleman, and his girlfriend at the time was 38. He was beautiful, friendly, and humorous. We enjoyed ourselves immensely. I assumed that was how all films were. The entire cast was like a dream. But he was a doll.
In October 2014, Stiles expressed a similar opinion to Us Weekly. “He was so sweet. She remembered how powerful he was. “Even at that young age, he was a mighty, gorgeous human being.”
