Don West Dies At 59: Iconic TNA Impact Wrestling Commentator!

Donald “Don” West, well-known for his analysis of Impact Wrestling, has passed away. He was 59.

Don West’s lymphoma-related death was verified in a tweet by Mike Tenay.

He wrote on Twitter, “Just learned from Terri that our brother @DonWestDeals will be spending New Year’s in heaven. “Terri stated D-Dub ultimately had to submit to lymphoma in his match. As broadcast partners and friends, we immediately connected when we first met. Years of wonderful on-camera and off-camera moments.

Tenay and Craig Jenkins FaceTimed with West on December 17, following which Mike Tenay posted a picture of him.

“IMPACT Wrestling is heartbroken to learn of the passing of Don West, one of the defining voices of our 20-year history,” the Impact Wrestling organization wrote in a tweet confirming West’s demise. Every moment Don called was enhanced by his enthusiasm and energy, brightening the mood of everyone he came into contact with. His loss will be felt deeply.

In an online open letter, Impact Wrestling’s executive vice president Scott D’Amore discussed West’s defeat.

The author wrote that Don was unique and brought light into each space he entered. “He inspired everyone he met and brought out the best in people. When I initially arrived at the TNA Asylum, Don was one of the first persons I saw, and he immediately made me feel at home. His generous spirit and renowned sense of humor made working with him a pleasure every day.

“I am forever grateful for being able to share a friendship with Don and honestly feel that his presence has improved both my career and my life,” continued D’Amore. My sincere condolences are extended to Terri West, Don’s wife, as well as to his family, friends, and, of course, the countless admirers whose lives he impacted.

How Did Don West Die?

Donald West (June 20, 1963–December 30, 2022) was an American salesman, television personality, and professional wrestler known for commentating on Impact Wrestling. In the past, West hosted shows on the Shop at Home Network. West gained some notoriety in the 1990s for his bold, energizing, abrasive sales pitches on late-night television, his direct, obvious insights, and his persuasive approach. He battled brain lymphoma until December 30, 2022, when he passed away.
