Duncan James, best known for his time in the boy band Blue, will put his marriage to his partner, Rodrigo Reis, to the test tonight as they compete against another couple on Jon & Lucy’s Weird Couples on Channel 4, hosted by Jon Richardson and Lucy Beaumont.
The musician and flight attendant Rodrigo have been dating since 2019. The singer has a daughter from a previous relationship with Claire Grainger.
Duncan first came out as bisexual in 2009 before coming out as gay in 2012. Duncan told Simon Webbe, a bandmate, his secret, and Simon advised Duncan to notify his family.
He discussed the urge to remain silent while on Loose Women, saying, “Coming from a boy band, a world where you have a lot of female admirers, for me, it was a tough thing to do to come out.”
After years of “living a lie,” Duncan has previously stated that coming out was the best thing he ever did.
When asked what it meant to be out gay, he responded: “Nowadays, it shouldn’t mean anything to anyone. You are what you are. We ought to stop labeling. Being yourself is sufficient.”

James appeared on two episodes of First Dates Hotel in 2019, during which he began dating a man while being out gay.
Even though he didn’t find love on the show, he soon met his future boyfriend. James publicly shared photos of his current partner, Rodrigo Reis, in the same year, writing that he is “happy to be gay.”

Duncan and Rodrigo first connected while performing with Blue in Belgium at an after-party. Rodrigo admitted that he was unaware of Duncan’s fame when they first met, stating, “In Brazil, where I am from, they’re not so famous.”
Recently, the two appeared on Jon & Lucy’s Weird Couples on Channel 4, when Rodrigo hilariously confessed that the Backstreet Boys are his favorite boyband, not Blue.
