“The Actors Studio meant so much to me in my life. Lee Strasberg hasn’t been given the credit he deserves … Next to Charlie, it sort of launched me. It really did. That was a remarkable turning point in my life. It was directly responsible for getting me to quit all those jobs and just stay acting.”
Al performed in the play “Awake and Sing!” for a season in 1967 at a playhouse in Boston. The position paid him a then-career-high $125 per week.
He appeared in the 1968 production of “The Indian Wants the Bronx” by Israel Horovitz, the father of Beastie Boys member Adam Horowitz. There were 177 performances of the play.

Bergman later pushed Pacino into taking on parts in The Godfather, Serpico, and Dog Day Afternoon, which solidified his reputation as one of the best actors in the world.
