Taylor Swift to Have Own Reporter at USA Today

Swift fans, assemble! Here’s your chance to find out if you can get paid to be a Taylor Swift fanatic. The Tennessean, a publication of the USA Today Network, and USA Today are looking for a talented journalist to fill a brand new position: Taylor Swift correspondent.

The outlet released the job posting on Sept. 12, writing in the description that “Swift’s fanbase has grown to unprecedented heights, and so has the significance of her music and growing legacy. We are looking for an energetic writer, photographer and social media pro who can quench an undeniable thirst for all things Taylor Swift with a steady stream of content across multiple platforms.”

Swift’s current meteoric rise to superstardom in the entertainment business coincides with the release of this employment advertisement. Swift became the first woman to surpass 100 million monthly listeners on Spotifyduring the North American leg of her critically acclaimed Eras Tour, and she has remained at the top of the charts since then with the release of her album re-recordings.

In addition, she and AMC Theatres are releasing a concert DVD documenting her recent Eras Tour, which has already grossed over $26 million.

The job description for the Swift reporter continues,

“Seeing both the facts and the fury, the Taylor Swift reporter will identify why the pop star’s influence only expands, what her fanbase stands for in pop culture, and the effect she has across the music and business worlds. We are looking for a journalist with a voice — but not a bias — able to quickly cultivate a national audience through smart content designed to meet readers on their terms.”

The writer will go globally to cover the most important parts of the remaining Eras Tour events. If you have at least five years of journalism experience and want to work for the USA Today Network, you should email a one- to two-page resume, a video cover letter outlining your strategy for the position, and four to eight samples of your work.
